We hope your safe, vibrant and enjoying your Summer days with great friends and family. Changes in the environment also cause changes within yourself, your community and among the entire planet.

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce to you a significant CHANGE we’ve recently implemented in our clinic

Let’s start with questions like … What are Acupuncture points ? What are Acupuncture Channels/Meridians ? These get asked very often by everyone trying to understand the age old healing art of Acupuncture.

To explain, I won’t begin by going back 3000 years, but just back to the 1950’s.  It wasn’t until this time that measurement discoveries were being made of acupuncture points by Japanese doctors Yoshio Nakatani and Kobei Akabane and German doctor Reinhold Voll.

It was the understanding that Acupuncture Points and Channels conduct electricity differently than the surrounding skin, Dr. Nakatani discovered that anomalies in electrical resistance measurements indicated meridian dysfunction which in essence exactly correlated with symptoms present in patients.

While taking this knowledge and combining it with modern day technology, Dr. Adrian Larsen created something incredible.  A state of the art tool that measures and interprets micro-currents at specific acupuncture points along the body.

And thus the AcuGraph – Digital Meridian Imaging System (DMI) was born.

What is the AcuGraph?
It is a diagnostic instrument that measures the micro currents of acupuncture points along the various meridians on the skin.  Data from subtle changes in the level of conductivity over specific points are gathered and filtered through a software to assess the strength – or deficiency – of each meridian.

Since each meridian is associated with a specific organ system, this gives us a clear indication of the current state of function (health) of each of the major organs; Heart, Liver, Lungs, Kidneys, Large Intestine, Stomach, Gall Bladder, Urinary Bladder and Spleen.

Imagine one test that not only tells you how all your organs are functioning, but also tells you how each organ affects the others!

What an EKG is for the heart or an EEG is for the brain – the AcuGraph DMI is for your entire body.

It examines the body as a whole – greater than the sum of its parts.  It gives you the big picture by comparing how each organ system is functioning in relation to the others.  Identifying which organ system is the primary ‘cause’ of an imbalance – and how this imbalance is expressed through your symptoms.

It simply takes diagnostic testing to a whole new level.

Is the test painful ?
No, the AcuGraph exam is completely painless.  The patient lays down on the exam table facing up while the acupuncturist lightly touches specific points along the legs and arms with a moistened pen-like probe.  Remember, this is measuring micro currents, so a light touch is all that is needed.  The entire test will take approximately 15 min to complete.

The AcuGragh results are combined with your medical history and Traditional Chinese Medicine examination which includes pulse diagnosis and tongue diagnosis.

When do I get my results ?
Once we’ve had a chance to review all the findings, a follow up visit will be scheduled – within one week – to review your exam results.  This is a one-on-one visit to review the test results and recommend an appropriate program of care.  If further investigation is needed, you will be referred to an appropriate health care provider.

To avoid feeling rushed, please make sure to set aside at least 40 min for the follow up visit to ensure all your questions are answered and all concerns addressed.

There is one thing that we have always taken pride in and that is the high-quality of care and service we provide.  That’s exactly the reason why we chose the AcuGraph system.
