John Filo D.C.
Chiropractor and Samadhi Meditation Teacher

As a Chiropractor for 18 years, I’m essentially trained to recognize specific patterns of the spine and nervous system. What I’m looking for is any compromise in integrity of the spine and by that i mean any imbalance or misalignment in the spinal column, cranium and/or hips.  These patterns or subluxations as we call them, are clues that tell us that the integrity of the spine as a whole is compromised.

A specific Chiropractic adjustment is then applied to correct the misalignment/subluxation and restore integrity to the spine.  Once integrity is restored, the system reaches a state of balance.  Muscle tension subsides, neural flow optimizes and inflammation begins to diminish.  The body knows how to heal.  My job is simply to bring the system back towards a state of equilibrium.  Chiropractic is a holistic science in that sense, not reductionistic.  It recognizes the greater mind-body connection and the powerful role the nervous system plays as the conductor. A familiar analogy is to think of a specific chiropractic adjustment as tuning the strings of a guitar or violin.  When in tune, the music plays in harmony.

Shant Filo  R.Ac
Registered Acupuncturist and Applied Mindfulness Meditation Specialist

I’m a Registered Acupuncturist practicing for 18 years and in good standing with my profession’s respective college.  My post-secondary schooling began at University of Toronto where my undergraduate studies included Cell and Molecular Biology and Human Physiology.  I continued my education at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Centre to obtain a Diplomate in Acupuncture.  I have been personally trained by Dr. Richard Tan in the “Balance Method”, a revolutionary acupuncture diagnosis and treatment protocol. I’m also an Applied Mindfulness Meditation Specialist through the University of Toronto.

Both John and I strongly believe in a mind – body approach to healing.  Over the last decade and a half, we have combined specific Acupuncture and Chiropractic techniques to help patients get out of pain naturally and off pain meds.  We stress the importance of mindfulness with our patients and believe that true healing only happens when we become conscious of our own patterns.  Our thought patterns, our behavioural patterns and our emotional patterns.  As a society, if we truly want to tackle the epidemic of chronic pain, mental illness, stress and anxiety, we must first awaken and be conscious of our own patterns.  Healing happens from within and we are here to simply guide you through the process.
